I often search around the web looking for relevant, inspirational and informational videos. I love learning, and online video’s are an easy and free way to keep learning. These are a few of the best videos I have found. These videos have messages that have challenged and inspired me. These videos are for anyone with an idea. So if you are an aspiring entrepreneur, established business owner, leader in your church, or just some guy with an idea, each of these videos have something for you. I hope they are able to challenge and inspire you like they have me.
1. “The surprising truth about what motivates us” RSA Animate
I love this video. It takes a look at the truth behind how we are motivated at home and in the work place. The traditional method of a carrot on a stick actually does not work with higher cognitive tasks. Find out the best ways to motivate your employees, children, or even yourself! Why do we play musical instruments on the weekends knowing that we will never be recognized for it? What is your transcendent purpose?
2. Seth Godin on Tribes We Lead
It is probably no news to anyone that follows me on twitter, or knows me personally that I am a fan of Seth Godin. This video is based on Godin’s book Tribes, where he argues the Internet has ended mass marketing and revived a human social unit from the distant past: tribes. Find out how to spread ideas through tribes of people that see the world like you do. So whether you are a solo entrepreneur or just someone with a powerful idea Godin says it is tribes, not money and not factories, that can change our world. Ideas that spread, win.
3. Guy Kawasaki “The Art of the Start”
Kawasaki says “probably the best speech I’ve ever given if I do say so myself.” This video is based on Kawasaki’s book Reality Check. Guy Kawasaki is an original Apple evangelist, entrepreneur, and venture capitalist. Here Kawasaki shares his thoughts and advice on: starting a business, being a good speaker, and focusing on changing the world. Do you have a montra? If not, Kawasaki will tell you why you need one instead of a wordy, meaningless mission statement. Need help getting started? Kawasaki states 3 tips for getting started. All-in-all this video is a great way to help you get focused and created something meaningful.
4. “The Unclear Path” Tara Hunt
I recently posted an article inspired by this video, with the video embedded in it. I believe that this video conveys a very important message for anyone considering entrepreneurship or who is an entrepreneur now. Tara shares truths of going into business. Here she explains how the life of an entrepreneur is not one for the weak of heart. She explains how as an entrepreneur you have to be willing to follow an unclear path, never fully knowing where you will end up. Think different. For more on the unclear path check out my blog post.
